Healthspan vs. Lifespan

Healthspan:

Focuses on quality of life and measures the progression of health-related parameters as an organism transitions from early adulthood and into the ageing process. This approach provides comprehensive insights in only 7 days.

Lifespan:

Measures the duration an organism remains alive, allowing you to understand the impact of genetic, environmental, and therapeutic factors on overall longevity and mortality rates. This can be done as a part of a healthspan study, using the same population in a carry-on lifespan after the healthspan.

Scalable, automated, multi-end point health metrics

Our patented biophotonics platform analyses and captures multiple end-point data from living worms, providing rich integrated measures on the effect of your compound or product. Robust and fast assay workflow with high data reproducibility and sensitivity

Over 80+ years of world-leading expertise in C. elegans research, combined with our WormGazer™ Technology ensures all aspects of our assays are conducted with the utmost consistency. Our automated approach is optimal for standardised data acquisition with a non-invasive approach. For example, there are no abrupt changes in lighting or temperature, or mechanical disruption to our worm cultures.

Unlike competitors, our technology enables us to maintain worms in a more natural, free-moving environment (as opposed to microchips), to encourage native behaviour and reliable data outcomes. In addition, WormGazer™ Technology allows continuous data acquisition with multiple culture plates per test conditions. Tracking images are taken every 0.8 sec for 160 secs, every 5 mins 24 hrs a day with an extensive duration (up to 14 days). As a result, we can generate a petabyte of relevant data per week. This allows us to reliably detect small changes between test conditions to provide information about whether your product has a tight efficacy window and understand the complexity of dose responses. This rich data is customisable for a multi-faceted healthspan approach, enabling you to select diverse and highly relevant end-points for your research — not just single data-point outcomes.
